The five public school districts on the Main Line share most of their long breaks this year. Every one closes for Thanksgiving on November 26 and 27, from December 24 through January 1, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 18), on Presidents’ Day (February 15), from March 22 through 26 and on Memorial Day (May 31). On Election Day, November 3, four districts close, and Radnor keeps kindergarten through eighth grade home while its high school students learn remotely.
The rest of the year differs by district, mostly on parent conference days and teacher training days, when some grades stay home or every student leaves early. The table lists each of those dates from October 2026 to the last day of school. The labels come from each district’s 2026-27 calendar, checked October 6, 2026.
Days off and early dismissals, October to June
“Closed” means no school for any student. A cell that names grades, such as “Closed K-5,” means only those grades stay home. “Early” is an early dismissal. Tredyffrin/Easttown’s conference days are half days for the grades named, with no kindergarten. The note column names a holiday when at least one district’s calendar names it.

Where the districts differ
Lower Merion’s board calendar sends families to the district’s online calendars for conference closings. Those calendars close the elementary schools on November 24, March 11 and March 12, and the middle schools on November 24 and March 12. Check them again before either week, since they are the dates most likely to change.
Radnor gives kindergarten through fifth grade three extra days off for assessments and conferences: November 13, November 24 and February 26. Kindergarten through eighth grade leave two hours early on October 23, February 5 and April 2. On May 18, as on Election Day, the younger grades stay home and the high school works remotely.
Tredyffrin/Easttown holds conferences over half days in November and March, and it closes every school on November 30 for a district-wide conference day and on February 5 for staff training.
Haverford has the most early dismissals, 15 dates for all or some students from October on, counting its last day. Its students also have Monday, March 29 off, a teacher in-service day after spring break, and Tuesday, May 4.
Great Valley’s calendar lists March 9 as a day off for Eid al-Fitr. The other four districts close on March 10.
The last day of school runs from June 8 in Great Valley to June 17 in Lower Merion. Tredyffrin/Easttown lists its June 15 last day as tentative.
Snow days and make-up days
Each district handles emergency closings its own way. Several use flexible instruction days, when students stay home and work through assignments from their teachers instead of making the day up in June.
- Radnor’s calendar has no built-in emergency closing days. It says the district will hold a flexible instructional day or turn the day into a teacher in-service day, and the last day of school stays June 11.
- Tredyffrin/Easttown uses flexible instruction days for its first five emergency closings. After that, it adds school days on June 16, 17, 21, 22 and 23, and its calendar says rescheduled days could run until June 30.
- Great Valley adds its first two closings to the end of the year in June. After those, it uses up to five flexible instruction days.
- Haverford’s flexible instruction day page says those days keep learning going without make-up days. Its 2026-27 calendar lists no make-up days.
- Lower Merion’s 2026-27 calendar lists no make-up days or flexible instruction days. Its school closing page lists the channels the district uses to announce a closing.
Before you plan around a day off
Districts revise their calendars during the year. Lower Merion last revised its 2026-27 calendar on October 20, 2025, Radnor on June 9, 2026 and Haverford on July 16, 2026. Each calendar is linked in the sources below. Check the district’s own page before you book a camp or a trip around one of these dates.
